waiting on #2...

Good morning.

Well, our new daughter Ava is three days late today. The wait is very hard. We want to see her little face and hold her but it is taking longer than expected. All things will happen in God's timing.

Today, we launch our ESL program and our Wednesday night children's activities. We are expecting great things from our Wednesday night programs. We are convinced that this is the direction God wants us to go and we are happy and excited to do so. Pray for the families that we will meet. It is our desire that they know Jesus and that we can minister to them.

Yesterday I was listening to Jerry Johnson Live on KCBI and was infuriated by one of the guests. He claims that a person is only a person if they are aware of time and can plan for their future (he said other things but this is the major premise for distinguishing persons from non-persons). This means that there are some animals (dogs, cats, etc.) which may be persons and some humans (mentally challenged, infants, etc.) who are not persons. This man also advocates abortion, infanticide, and assisted suicide.

  1. What is the definition of personhood in your worldview?
  2. Is there a time where a person ceases to be a person?
  3. When is that time?
  4. What responsibilities do we have to those who cannot choose for themselves?

The "ethic" with which we view these issues will have ramifications in the years to come.
