We're Back...

We are back from Jamaica!

We had a wonderful time and the Lord really blessed the medical clinics. The days were really hectic. There were days that we would leave at 7am and not return home until 9 or 10 pm. The doctors saw about 300 patients over the course of four clinics and we had 30 professions of faith in Jesus.

The people of Jamaica are wonderful. They have a sweet spirit and a willing smile and we felt very welcome. We did all of our work in Kingston. In addition to medical clinics, we also did street preaching, Sunday services and morning devotionals for school children.

Don't shake your head, you heard right. In Jamaica, they allow Christians to come into the elementary and high schools and spend time with the kids in biblical devotions. We were able to share the gospel with many children (about 500 if I had to guess) and many made professions of faith in Christ.

Jamaica is a different country with a different background but we both share roots in the colonialist influence of England and therefore things are very similar.

I have included a picture of my only souvenir, a coffee mug with the unofficial national motto.

I hope this post finds you well. As I digest the information over the course of the next few days, I will post as the need arises.

Blessings to you!

Pastor Jeff.

Jamaica...

Jamaica is coming soon. I am making final preparations this week to go to Jamaica on mission with Ambassador International Ministries. We will be helping to facilitate medical and dental clinics for and sharing the Gospel with the people in Kingston Jamaica. I am looking forward to the opportunity to preach. This will be my first time to preach outside of the United States and I eagerly anticipate what God will do there. We will need your prayers. You can pray that—

  1. God will soften the hearts of the people we contact to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  2. We will have safe travel to and from Jamaica.

  3. We will have energy to do the work because the days will be long and hectic.

  4. We will be able to meet the physical needs of the people but also the spiritual needs.

I hope I can count on your prayers. If you are willing to pray for us from November 16th-23rd then please post a response to this post saying that you are willing. Thank you for interceding for us.

theodicy...

Theodicy is defined as a "defense of God's goodness and omnipotence in view of the existence of evil." (Merriam-Webster online) The concept of Theodicy is a stumbling block to lost people and they often use it as a deflecting statement to those Christians who are trying to witness to them about God's love. They seem to inherently know that God's goodness is at odds with the existence of evil. Few will make the connection between God's omnipotence appearing compromised in a world where evil exists but many will note that God's goodness should negate the existence of evil. They will say things like, "If your God is so good then why do bad things happen?" or "If your God is so good then why is there so much suffering in the world?"

What do you think?

shame on me...

I know, I know…

It's been awhile since I have posted. No excuses.

I have been using the last few days to get with the times.

First I got a myspace page and then was informed that I was now 2 years behind the times (thanks Dr. Burk) so I went and got a facebook page. Get on there and see me if you would like.

Technology is cool but sometimes dangerous. For instance, shortly after I got my myspace page, someone hacked my password and began sending spam to my friends. The spam was very questionable. I apologize but had nothing to do with it. I have taken measures to insure it won't happen again. You can learn a lot about someone from their myspace or facebook page. (ps—parents, get online and see what your kids are doing!!!!)

It is my prayer that God is pouring out his grace and love upon you.

Blessings,

Pastor Jeff
